These sessions are ideal for anyone rehabilitating from injury, or keen to improve mobility and strength. The programs are progressed gradually with emphasis on technique to allow safe and successful strengthening. One or more individual initial consultations are completed before you join a class to allow us to identify your personal goals and plan a program unique to you. During these initial sessions strength baselines are established and key exercises are practised.Mat based group sessions have a maximum of 10 participants per class and run for 60 minutes. Our timetable offers classes during and after hours options.Contact us for more information.
Rehabilitation

A focus on active treatment programs sees our physios using our gym and group exercise sessions for injury management. For rehabilitation progressions we utilise The Valleys Lifestyle Centre and The Fitness Society Gym facilities.
Current research evidence for managing many health conditions is the effectiveness and importance of exercise. Having the capacity for the tissues of your body to withstand the activities you put it through is essential in rehabilitation.
Aquatic Physiotherapy (Hydrotherapy)

Hydrotherapy describes many different activities that involve or are done in water. These activities have a therapeutic effect. Aquatic Physiotherapy refers to movement and exercise for rehabilitation carried out in a warm pool. The Valleys Lifestyle Centre Heated Indoor Pool is quite shallow so you can stand up easily and have a rail to hold on to. It is 10 metres long and heated to 32 degrees. The pool has steps with handrails to get down into the water.
Aquatic physiotherapy can help most conditions that result in pain, stiffness, weakness, de-conditioning or low fitness, balance problems or difficulties moving. Aquatic physiotherapy focuses on gentle exercise in the early stages of your rehabilitation. These exercises can become much harder when you need or when you can manage more difficult exercises.
Research shows that doing aquatic exercise results in improvements in walking, balance, pain and quality of life in hip and knee arthritis or joint replacements, other types of arthritis, older adults, fibromyalgia and low back pain.
Each week Physio Clare hires The Valleys Lifestyle centre indoor pool to allow safe private sessions for our clients. We develop individualised exercise routines and progress the challenge of water exercise as you improve.

GLA:D Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Management

What is GLA:D Australia?
GLA:D®, Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark, is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.
Research from the GLA:D® program in Australia shows an average pain reduction of 36%, reduced analgesic consumption, reduction in perceived need for surgery, and clinically meaningful improvement in joint confidence.
Education and exercises provided can be applied to everyday activities, ensuring participants develop skills to self-manage their osteoarthritis. By strengthening and improving confidence with exercise, participants develop better capacity to become or stay active, prevent symptom progression and reduce pain.
Oncology Rehabilitation

At Physio Clare we have fully qualified cancer rehab physiotherapists, here to support, guide and rehabilitate people through every stage of their treatment and recovery. The cancer rehabilitation training has been completed through PINC & STEEL who have been the pioneering force behind the cancer rehabilitation movement in New Zealand and Australia since 2005.
There are now more people surviving a cancer diagnosis, but they can face an increased risk of extended health problems, premature mortality and harsh side effects from their treatment.
Our rehabilitation program is highly individualised and may be done individually, or in small groups.
